The Good Wood Workshop was designed to prepare NEET young adults for sustainable employment in the construction industry to improve their lives. We support their education through partnerships in the construction industry and a community workshop, to give those people access to top-class construction training.
Over 500,000 young adults are not in employment, education or training, and many more lack the access to resources that would allow them to retrain into a career that would give them a better quality of life.
Meanwhile, the construction industry is suffering from a huge skills gap and there is a dire need for new housing in the UK - we believe that there shouldn't be a reason why our young adults shouldn't be filling those jobs, so we intend to bring top-class construction training to the nation, and solve both problems - developing a community involvement in the future of their local environment and bring about a solution to the housing crisis
Our vision is to create an accessible and affordable training programme for the construction industry. We want to remove the barriers to entry into a career in construction, to help young adults change their careers and their lives.
